Is Convenience Killing Us?
Eat with purpose and reclaim your health. Sickness is not inevitable.
Thanks to technology, we live a hectic life that borders on convenience. Junk food is at the forefront of the issue, and so is the price we pay. The more we prioritize this cheap, unhealthy fare, the further we move away from good health.
Most people never think past their taste buds. Food delivery is easy, fast and it tastes great. Yet though we’re satiated at the moment, how will we function down the road? Once food moves down to the digestive tract, the real interconnected nature of ingredients takes place.
When we eat well, our bodies employ the nutrients to create and maintain a homeostatic balance, which keeps us healthy. If we’re constantly eating junk food, then cheap sugar, fats, unhealthy oils and all kinds of chemicals, pesticides, and preservatives must be processed and dealt with by the body.
Two Attitudes
Healthy food: It takes time and effort to purchase food at the correct stores, study labels of ingredients and origin, make smart selections based on your unique body type and chemistry, and cook food in a way that promotes good health. What's the payoff? A satisfying dinner that doesn't leave you feeling guilty since you gave it your best shot at providing your body with the finest possible nourishment and flavour That's a huge boost to your chances of staying healthy well into old age. Congratulations!
Junk food: This stuff is readily available for order on your smartphone or through an app and is delivered to you in ten to twenty minutes. You probably won't know exactly what's in it, but that's okay; you're looking for flavour, not nutrition. After you've finished eating, your mind will go on to other things. This will carry on for years, maybe even decades, until you "suddenly" become sick. Don't be shocked; it's only a random consequence of not knowing better. You have forgotten your first responsibility, which is to provide your body with nutritious food.
The above may be a bit tongue-in-cheek, but there's no denying that a poor diet is at the very heart of chronic illness and is linked to the regular use of highly processed foods.
But I’m Busy!
Everyone is busy these days. We act as if we have to work around the clock and that any stoppage will have a devastating effect on our productivity. Even though some professionals and company owners really do put in long hours, they prioritize their health and well-being since they know it has a great impact on their ability to succeed.
Many others have trouble deciding how to split their time. They prioritize what seems essential (video games, phone use, and the newest movies) above what is really important (their health). It's easy to give the impression of being busy when you're not. And so you let other stuff get in the way of making your health a priority. Talking on the phone, using social media, binge-watching YouTube videos, sending emails, and so on—all this is not real work; it just wastes time.
Death By Convenience
The missing ingredient to health is the lost art of preparing real, whole food! You might think it costs too much to eat in a healthy manner, and you don’t have the time to prepare real food. However, you should consider the true expense in the long term. Healthcare, unnecessary medications, and time lost from work will also significantly impact your bottom line.
Focus on the things that matter if you care about your health. Don't only see food as something to eat; remember that it's also a source of nourishment. The goal is to promote cellular health by providing necessary nutrients, not damaging them via the consumption of harmful substances.
That understanding is the difference between sky-high energy levels, and life dragging you down with tiredness and illness. When you begin to understand the connection between the two, you’re on the right track.
Choose foods wisely, eat with purpose, and get your health back on track. Illness is not a given in life.
