I’ve been writing on Substack for about a year now and it still feels like the right place. As some of you know, I switched from Wordpress because so many writers have been censored for saying the right thing, but on the wrong platform.
My porfolio stretches over decades and my concern was that I would be deplatformed and lose all of my work. Thankfully Substack does not lean left or right, but simply allows writers to freely express opinions and great work.
So far it’s been an excellent experience. My reader base - both free and premium - is growing at a great pace. This tells me there is a thirst for uncensored health and fitness information in one place - rather than searching hundreds of biased internet pages.
Now Substack has gotten quite a bit better with their brand new Twitter competitor: “Notes”
I plan to use it for things that don’t fit in the newsletter, like work-in-progress, quick questions, short information takes or just some gnomish witticisms. So far, the experience has been great:
How To Join
Head to substack.com/notes or find the “Notes” tab in the Substack app.
As a subscriber to StrongHealth, you’ll automatically see my notes. Feel free to like, reply, or share them around. If you encounter any issues, you can always refer to the Notes FAQ for assistance.
Basically, what you see is fairly similar to Twitter. Here’s an example of one of my notes:
In Notes you will see two tabs: “Home” and “Subscribed.”
The Subscribed tab shows notes and activity from writers you have subscribed to directly.
The Home tab shows notes from writers you are subscribed to and writers they recommend, making up your extended network.
How to Publish a Note
Curate and share as you read. When you find a great piece of writing or podcast episode, it’s easy to share it to Notes. Simply click the “restack” icon or highlight an excerpt you love and click “Restack quote” to spread the word to the Substack network.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
