Steroids: A Crisis of Lifestyle Fraud

2

Steroids have abounded in bodybuilding circles for decades. CrossFit also has a reputation for excessively muscular physiques due to steroid usage and now that social media has become a powerful tool in the fitness industry, its transforming the way people approach health and wellness. Influencers, particularly those in the bodybuilding and fitness communities, have leveraged platforms like Instagram and YouTube to share their routines, diets, and transformation stories. However, the rise of these influencers has also brought to light a concerning trend: the promotion of unrealistic fitness standards and the use of steroids to achieve their physiques.

While the example above highlights what is possible as a younger person on steroids, older men also will benefit from steroids, even with TRT usage. In my talk I highlight Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who is 70 years old. While many people are on TRT, and free to do so since it’s an individual choice, Kennedy says he is all natural and dislikes syringes and pills. Apparently not enough to get in on the act.

Again, all are free to make their own choices, especially since steroids have been around for decades. But with the advent of social media, misrepresenting those choices is what’s destroying our modern fitness culture. Have a listen to my talk and decide for yourself!
